The Children's Corner
Author Melinda Long and illustrator David Shannon team up to write HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, a fun-filled story to delight any four to eight-year-old child. Jeremy Jacob is building a sandcastle when a pirate ship lands nearby. The pirate crew invites Jeremy to join their voyage, so he takes off for an adventure on the high seas. He has a rollicking good time, but misses his family comforts. He does make it home in time for soccer practice! Hilarious text with fabulous illustrations.
DRAGON RIDER
Another wonderful story by Cornelia Funke…every bit as delightful as The Thief Lord and InkHeart. The Dragon Rider is made up of a loveable cast of characters, who take off together on an exciting and dangerous quest. Along the way they are pursued by a nasty dragon-slaying monster. But the story is also humorous and heartwarming. The perfect fantasy/adventure for any 8-12 year old.

REVOLUTION
By Jennifer Donnelly
Andi, a high school senior, has suffered a terrible loss and is finding
great difficulty coping with her life. On a trip to Paris with her
father, she discovers the diary of a teenage girl, Alex, who lived
during the French Revolution. The two girls’ lives begin to overlap in
astonishing ways. Jennifer Donnelly superbly weaves together a
contemporary/historical novel, rich with history, music and emotion.
The reader is swept away by the parallel lives of two girls who connect
across two centuries. A wonderful novel for the mature teenager (and
most adults, too!.
